here’s the trailer for New Moon, film no. 2 of the Twilight series that many genre fans have been waiting for…

i’m not exactly waiting for this movie with bated breath — i think that of all 4 Twilight books, only book 1 is actually worth re-reading (sorry Twilight, fans) — but the trailer leaves me wondering if the filmmakers are actually going to make film 2 more interesting than the book version. hmmm… i kind of like the fact that michael sheen is playing one of the Volturis (Aro). and, of course, dakota fanning brings her own brand of magic. not to mention rob pattinson, kristin stewart, taylor lautner, etc.

New Moon, directed by chris weitz, is expected to hit the theaters by november 2009. expect the promotional hype to build up.

i wasn’t able to watch the whole show but the consensus is neil patrick harris did an awesome job as this year’s host.

there are several rib-tickling moments in the show. here are a couple of ‘em:

this time, let jimmy fallon “do” (dance? mime?) the talking. (this cracked me up!)

and then, there’s the incomparable ricky gervais

p.s. i don’t know how long these gems will be available in youtube, but let’s enjoy ‘em while they last. nyeheheh

here’s telecom giant Nokia’s latest release — the Nokia Booklet 3G, a compact (10.1 in.), lightweight (1.25 kg), battery-efficient (12 hours!) mini-laptop that offers a host of nifty features (you can use it with any phone). It runs on Windows 7 (OS), and has GPS, HDMI output, Bluetooth function, 3G (naturally), Wi-Fi port, Ovi suite, etc. and stylish looks.

with 12 hours of battery of life — along with a few other yummy features — the Booklet 3G is almost irresistible. except for the price tag, of course. it is priced at $820 (rather a bit much for a netbook), which you can expect to climb by 30%–60% the moment it hits local stores (taxes, add-ons, etc.)

still, if you’re into mobile computing, but can’t really stand the hassle of too much weight and continuous recharging and have some cash to burn, Nokia Booklet 3G might be a nice option.

just when you think this year’s MTV’s Video Music Awards is gonna end up relatively tepid for a change, hip-hop star kanye west, ups and drops in a bomb of his own. and this time, the hapless target of his ever-wagging, corrosive tongue is 19-year-old country singer taylor swift.

ms. swift was in the middle of her acceptance speech (Best Female Video for “You Belong with Me“), when kanye west unceremoniously barged in and made a holy mess of things… (see below).

naturally, a lot of people — for various reasons — wouldn’t let an occasion like this go to waste. aside from the usual outraged reactions from various quarters, this infamous tirade also brought in some hilarous spoofs (heheheh). here’s a sample:

at any rate, when beyonce later went onstage to receive her Video of the Year award later, she graciously asked taylor swift to join her so she could finish her speech. kanye west, who seemed to have taken one drink too many, was reportedly escorted off from the show, and even managed to apologize (in full CAPs, mind) to ms. swift in his blog.
